Language Programs for Children
The WICC approach to language teaching and
learning immerses students in the language through
creative and fun experiences. With the use of the
WICC state-of-the-art facilities, teachers engage
and educate children by immersing them in the
Italian language and culture through age-appropriate
activities such as songs, stories, finger play, books,
computers and crafts.

Language Courses for Adults
Full immersion in the language and familiarity with
the culture is achieved by using only the Italian
language and creating an atmosphere of free
expression from the first day of class. The goal at
each level is to attain fluency within the linguistic
categories listed below and familiarization with
the culture by making the language acquisition
an enjoyable experience.
Beginner Italian
This class provides students with a sound
grammatical basis while teaching everyday
communication skills (13 Classes).

five fun-filled cooking classes for young chefs. Guest
chefs will guide the children through the preparation of

Film - The Fugitive Kind (in English)
The Fugitive Kind is a 1959 film directed by Sidney
Lumet. The screenplay by Meade Roberts and
Tennessee Williams was based on the latter's 1957
play "Orpheus Descending", itself a revision of his
unproduced 1939 work "Battle of Angels.” Magnani
inspired the role of Lady Torrance, an Italian
immigrant in Mississippi who is bought like a slave
by a rich older white racist store owner and in 1960
she was nominated for a Golden Globe and won.
Magnani stars along with Marlon Brando, Joanne
Woodward and Maureen Stapleton. Introduction

Film - The Secret of Santa Vittoria (in English)
Nominated for 6 Golden Globes and 2 Oscars, it won
the Golden Globe for Best Comedy. Set during WWII
when Italy surrenders to the Allies. Anthony Quinn,
who plays Bombolini, becomes the town mayor and
has to devise a plan to save the town's million bottles
of wine from the occupying Germans. Anthony Quinn
and Anna Magnani at their best. Introduction and
commentary by Author and Director Franco

Ceramica Magnifica: A Celebration of a Heritage: Este, Italy
October 7 - November 30
An exhibit of contemporary ceramics by artisans in
Este, Italy. Curated by world-renowned Venetian artist
Federica Marangoni, this exhibition includes works by
Krizia, Missoni, Massimo Vignelli, UltraViolet, Armando
Milani, Alison Sky, Adam Tihany, James Wines and
many others, and celebrates Estes rich ceramic traditions.
Presepio
December 4 - January 10, 2009
The Presepio is an expression of the true meaning of Christmas and represents “a moment of life” in
traditional Neapolitan villages during the 1700s.
The Presepio combines art, religion and the traditions
of Italian culture. On display will be sections depicting
life in the village and the nativity scene including
the Holy Family, the Wise Men, shepherds and
accompanying angels. An annual tradition celebrated
by all generations in Italy.

• Registration priority is afforded Westchester Italian Cultural Center members.
• All WICC courses, programs and presenters are subject to change or cancellation. There are no refunds unless the WICC cancels an event.
• Full payment is required upon registering for an event. WICC accepts cash, personal checks, money orders, as well as Visa, MasterCard and American Express. All checks must be drawn on US funds. There is a $20 charge for returned checks.
• All program registrations (series and single programs) are non-refundable and non-transferable.
• If you are unable to attend, you may contact WICC 24 hours prior to the date for a receipt that enables you to claim your contribution as a tax-deductible gift.
• The WICC is not responsible for providing makeup classes or issuing refunds for programs missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond our control.
