Carnevale per bambini – February 17, 2007
  

An interactive cultural, language, dance party for children with a mask-making workshop, masquerade procession, plus traditional music and games.


The Masks of Venice - February 9, 2007
     

Lecture by photographer Anita Sanseverino about her journey and experiences in Venice during carnevale.  Live music and a reception followed.


Venetians in Mask: The Magic of Carnevale – On display January 29, 2007 through March 3, 2007



   

Multimedia exhibition to celebrate the Italian pre-Lenten festival of fantasy with an enchanting display of extravagant masks from Venice, elaborate costumes of traditional and commedia dell'arte characters, vibrant video footage from Piazza San Marco and telling photographs by Anita Sanseverino.

Cinema Paradiso - January 26, 2007
     

Students from local high school Italian clubs participated in a presentation of the movie “Cinema Paradiso,” dinner and a lively discussion. Maria Conte provided an introduction to the film.


A Visit from La Befana - January 5, 2007
   

Children celebrated the feast of Epiphany with a visit from la befana, the traditional Italian gift-giver. The program also included storytelling, a craft workshop to decorate holiday stockings, games, music and dancing. Grazie a Rosa Merenda.

La Cantata di Natale - December 10, 2006
   

I Giullari di Piazza, the southern Italian folk group, presented the holiday theatrical and musical performance of “La Cantata di Natale” in Italian which featured narration in English by la befana.

Presepio Napoletano – On display December 5, 2006 through January 12, 2007

   

Exhibition to celebrate the art and tradition of the presepi of Naples. Side-by-side are the “Presepio per la Pace” courtesy of Federazione delle Associazioni della Campania and “Presepio Napoletano.” 


Christmas in Italian Art - December 7, 2006
     

An engaging topical slide presentation by Vivian Gordon from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, featuring works from the Museum’s collection that highlight the Nativity, the Adoration, Mary with the Infant Christ and the Museum’s famed 18th century Neapolitan  presepio.


An Evening of Italian Language & Culture with Michelangelo - November 30, 2006

       

Prof. Aldo Belardo with this exciting PowerPoint presentation of Michelangelo's art shares his passion on Michelangelo the architect, poet, sculptor and painter.


Passport through Italy - November 18, 2006
   

An exciting adventure through the culture and language of Italy for children that utilized slides, workshops, games, music, and dancing.  Grazie a  Maria Figura, Cathy Blanco, Stephanie Sangirardi, e Rosa Merenda.


Primi passi in Italiano - Mommy & Me - November 16, 2006
     

Interactive Italian language class for children three and four years of age and their mothers. Grazie a Leslie Poole Petit.


The Misfortunes of Pulcinella - November 14, 2006

     

WICC reaches out to the community. Fourth and fifth grade students at William E. Cottle School in Tuckahoe had the unique opportunity to learn about the tradition of commedia dell’arte through a puppet show by Fred Greenspan.


Sapori di Toscana - November 9, 2006
     

A wine dinner featuring the Tuscan cuisine of David Greco and the wines of Tuscany by Vias Imports, Ltd. The evening was moderated by Charles Scicolone, acclaimed food and wine author and featured a live performance of Italian arias.


Images & Allegory in Dante’s “Inferno” - November 8, 2006
       

A passionate lecture by Prof. Francesco Lindia with a PowerPoint presentation on the figurative language of Dante’s Inferno and understanding of the allegories to his own life.


Buongiorno Italian Research - November 4, 2006
   

A hands-on computer workshop designed to help research Italian family history records to learn what records are available from Italy, where to find them, how to read them and how to use them to extend your Italian genealogy research and family tree, with a feature presentation by Larry Fermi. In collaboration with the Westchester chapter of the Italian Genealogical Group.


Westchester County Board of Legislators Proclamation Ceremony - October 23, 2006

     
The Westchester County Board of Legislators commemorated Italian Heritage and Culture Month with a special ceremony led by Chairman William Ryan at the legislative chambers to honor students and teachers of Italian language.  Co-produced by the Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations and the Westchester Italian Cultural Center.

Welcome Reception in honor of Minister Clemente Mastella - October 22, 2006

   

Prominent Italian American leaders gathered at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center to welcome the Honorable Clemente Mastella, Minister of Justice, Republic of Italy, in collaboration with the Consul General of Italy in New York and Federazione delle Associazioni della Campania.


Westchester County Executive Proclamation Ceremony - October 4, 2006
     

Andrew J. Spano, County Executive of Westchester, commemorated Italian Heritage and Culture Month and honored students and teachers of the Italian language during a proclamation ceremony co-produced by the Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations and the Westchester Italian Cultural Center and hosted by the Antonio Meucci Lodge, OSIA.

Planeta, A Night of Sicilian Beauties - September 25, 2006
     

A food and wine pairing event featuring the region of Sicily. Chef Carmelo D'Aprile from "Grappolo Locanda" in Chappaqua  presented a few authentic regional dishes and Marco Secola from Vias Imports, Ltd. paired the wines of Planeta.


Italian Dolci - September 16, 2006
     

Giulia Ciaccia and Dora Marzovilla hosted a demonstration culinary event for adults and shared their traditional original recipes for dolci. The event was moderated by Domenica Marzovilla from I Trulli Restaurant.


Pizza for Children - August 20, 2006

     

Chef Giovanni and Chef Alfonso from Hostaria Mazzei incorporated an engaging Italian language and cultural lesson with a hands-on pizza making class for children.


FIFA World Cup Championship Game - July 9, 2006

   

A full house of soccer fans was on-hand and on their feet to cheer the Azzurri on to the championship of the world. Grazie a Giulia Ciaccia. Campioni del Mondo! Forza Azzurri! Forza Italia!
