About the event
Rosalba's life is about to change. When the busy housewife (Licia Maglietta) is accidentally left behind while on vacation with her family, she decides to take a holiday on her own in ravishing Venice. Charmed by the city and her newfound freedom, she extends her stay, finding a job in a flower shop, renting a room from a wistful waiter (Bruno Ganz) whom she befriends, and rediscovering her love of playing the accordion. But her solo sojourn does not sit well with her tyrannical husband (Antonio Catania), who recruits an amateur detective (Giuseppe Battiston) to bring his wife back home. Will Rosalba return to her old life or embrace the exciting possibilities of a new one? Bread & Tulips is the internationally acclaimed romantic comedy that reminds you it's never too late to bloom.
Director Silvio Soldini turns the tourist mecca of piazzas, canals, and stone bridges into a quaint little village out of time and fills the film with the charm of the city and the gentle quirks of his delightful cast.
