About the event
Generoso Pope arrived in the United States in 1906 at the age of fifteen with less than $10 in his pocket. Earning $3 per week carrying water for construction crews at Colonial Sand & Stone, he purchased the failing company with all of its debt and eventually made it the largest sand and gravel company in the world.
